Two pair socks, the so-called sabotaged socks, knitted with mixed silk yarn, approx. 32 cm.
Cloth doll, head of cotton jersey, body of cotton flannel, hair of wool, green dress of cotton flannel, underpants of silk jersey, 26 cm.
Cloth doll, girl with beach attire, cotton-filled body, shirt and headscarf made in cotton jersey, suspender trousers in cotton, wool shoes, 18 cm.
Grass doll, green wool pants, red-white cotton plaid shirt, wool hair and eyes, 13.5 cm.
Cloth doll, negro, body in cotton jersey, clothes made of crocheted wool, socks made of crocheted wool, 11 cm.
Cloth bag, good quality black wool with the monogram LP embroidered in wool yarn, button of synthetic material, 18.5 x 16 cm. Worn under clothes for toiletries, secret messages, etc., 1943-1945. The monogram was designed by Russian nun, Maria Skoprow, who died in the gas chamber at Ravensbrück, April 1945. The bag was called “the sabotage bag.”
A few tell how the dolls were used to smuggle messages out of the camp. Other were made as Christmas gifts for the children in the camp 1944:
“When Christmas came some arranged a collection for the children. A couple prisoners looked through the infirmary windows to see if there were any children, but they shouted back that there were no children there – only Jews. I made a doll. I stole fabric, sewed arms, legs, and body and filled it with old rags. On the top, a little head with light braids that some other prisoners helped me with.”
